⚠️ Important Update: Temporary Dynamic Fuel Surcharge

Aviation fuel prices have increased sharply in recent weeks, with Jet A1 fuel prices at South African airports rising by around 70% in just one week.

To keep our pricing transparent for customers, FlySafair will introduce a temporary Dynamic Fuel Surcharge on certain flights. While fuel normally forms part of the base fare, we have chosen to show this temporary increase separately so customers can clearly see the impact of the recent fuel price spike on their ticket. This measure is temporary and will be reviewed regularly and adjusted as fuel prices stabilise.

FlySafair has absorbed these increases for as long as possible to protect customers from sudden airfare changes. However, the scale of the increase means we now need to recover a portion of these costs to maintain reliable and sustainable operations.

What this means for customers
⛽ Takes effect 12 March 2026
⛽ Applies only to flights departing on or before 12 May 2026
⛽ Clearly itemised on tickets for full transparency
⛽ If you have already booked, your fare will not change.

Existing bookings remain fully protected and will never be charged retrospectively. The surcharge will be reviewed regularly and reduced or removed once fuel prices stabilise.

FlySafair remains committed to keeping South Africans flying at the lowest sustainable fares while being transparent about the real cost of aviation fuel.
