There’s something special about a Travel Indaba, isn’t there?
The conversations may be light and sometimes fleeting, yet they often spark fresh ideas, meaningful connections and valuable insights. Beyond the presentations and product updates, an Indaba reminds us that networking is more than simply exchanging business cards – it’s the art of building genuine, lasting relationships.
Three tips for successful networking:
▪️ Be genuinely interested. Listen more than you speak and ask thoughtful questions.
▪️ Be authentic. People remember sincerity long after they’ve forgotten a sales pitch.
▪️ Follow up. The real value of networking lies in nurturing the connection long after the event.
Networking is a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas, knowledge and opportunities between people united by a common profession, purpose or passion. The strongest partnerships are built on trust, shared values and meaningful conversations.
Representing TAG (Travel Assignment Group) Trigon Travel at the Southern Sun Mini Indaba, hosted at the Southern Sun Cape Sun Hotel in Strand Street, were Yumna Adams and Ruqaiyah Kherekar. They enjoyed catching up with Prineta Hufkie, Sales Executive at Southern Sun and a valued friend and supplier to TAG Trigon Travel.
Yumna shared her thoughts:
“A very informative and enjoyable Mini Indaba featuring a management panel from Southern Sun, followed by an engaging Q&A session with clients and members of the travel and tourism industry. Mingling with the General Managers and Sales Executives from the various regions and hotels is always a highlight.”
Never underestimate the value of showing up. Every conversation has the potential to open a new door, strengthen an existing relationship or inspire a fresh perspective. Maintaining positive relationships with clients, suppliers and industry peers not only strengthens your network but also enhances your brand, your service offering and your reputation.
A sincere thank you to the Southern Sun Team for their outstanding organisation and warm hospitality. Events like these continue to strengthen the partnerships that make our industry so rewarding.
