SA – Severe weather alert update: Orange level 5 warning for disruptive rainfall over Gauteng, North West & the north eastern parts of Free State.

Eswatini Air – plans to launch a route connecting King Mswati III International Airport in Eswatini with Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Zambia. While the start date of the service TBC – flights are expected to add to the carrier’s non-stop flights between Eswatini and Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg, strengthening its presence in Southern Africa.
Ethiopian Airlines – announces the launch of a new thrice-weekly passenger service to Hyderabad, India, starting from June 16, 2025. This new route exemplifies Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to expanding its global network & enhancing connectivity between Africa & Asia, providing passengers with convenient travel options.
Lufthansa – taken a 10% minority stake in Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, building on an existing wet-lease agreement between the two companies.
Award-winning Lufthansa Allegris cabin now bookable for further destinations – and select special Allegris seats. From March 30, the new long-haul cabin available from Munich to San Diego & New York-Newark (from mid-AprIL) & continuously from the beginning of August also to Charlotte.
Etihad Airways’ – new service to Atlanta launched four times a week on July 2, is proving so popular that the airline has decided to make it a daily flight from November 1.
UK – Manchester Airport issued a travel advisory for passengers driving to the airport over the next two weeks due to overnight closures of the M60.
USA – Winter storm warnings in place for parts of Michigan, Maine, Ohio, Colorado, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Missouri. Warnings & advisories are in place until February 19.
Eurostar – resumes direct Amsterdam-London services. Eurostar’s resumption provides three daily services between London St Pancras and Amsterdam Centraal on weekdays and Sundays (two on Saturdays).
Rwanda’s – government to introduce a tourism levy to support development of the industry. Approved by Rwanda’s Cabinet as one of several tax policy reforms on Feb 10, the levy will be payable by tourists and fixed at 3% of the overall hotel room rate for the duration of stay.
