Asata released a statement providing more insight on some of the most frequent questions that had been posed to the association, saying:
* Domestic travel to and from Gauteng was only permitted for essential reasons.
* Travellers transiting in Gauteng before or after international trips would be allowed to travel through Gauteng and would also be able to overnight in the province.
* When it came to Gauteng residents wanting to travel internationally Asata had this to say:
“Yes you can travel internationally. All COVID-19 protocols will need to be observed and a negative COVID-19 test (not older than 72 hours) will need to be presented upon your return to South Africa.”
Travel to and from Gauteng: Interprovincial travel for leisure to and from Gauteng is prohibited.
Travel to and from Gauteng is permitted:
• For work – a permit issued by the employer is needed (Form 7 Annexure A)
• To attend a funeral. A permit is needed (Form 4 Annexure A)
• Transiting through Gauteng
• For the transport of mortal remains
• For students who commute to and from school
• To move to a new place of residence
• To care for an immediate family member. A form is needed (Form 6 Annexure A)
• To perform oversight responsibilities by members of parliament
• To obtain medical treatment
• To return to place of residence from a quarantine or isolation facility
Conferences: Gatherings at conferencing, exhibitions and entertainment facilities are prohibited until 11 July 2021.
